FLINT & DENBIGH HUNT
COED COCH GUIDED RIDE AND BARBEQUE
COED COCH ESTATE, DOLWEN NEAR ABERGELE
SUNDAY 31ST AUGUST 2025
11AM
The Flint and Denbigh Hunt Fun Ride Committee are delighted to invite you to join us to experience something new, a guided group ride, to be held on the beautiful Coed Coch Estate at Dolwen near Abergele by kind permission of Harry and Davina Fetherstonhaugh.
All riders will meet at 11am for a traditional welcome drink before setting off on an approximately 2 hour ride ( about 10 miles) behind either our Jumping Field Master or our Non- Jumping Field Master. All jumps are optional.
Exact parking location will be announced on Facebook close to the date.
Please note that most of the jumps at Coed Coch are 90 – 100cm so we recommend that you be a confident jumper to go with the jumping group although there will be some smaller jumps on route that even some non-jumpers may want to pop over.
On returning to the parking field there will be a barbeque and drinks for everyone to enjoy after putting their horses away.
We will have our gate openers and shutters with us so we won't need stewards that day which is important as we hope all our wonderful stewards will join us for a (free for them) barbeque as a thank you for the many, many hours that they spend stewarding throughout the summer at our fun rides.
Cost per rider is £25 which includes barbeque and refreshments
Numbers will be limited so book early to enjoy this spectacular ride with its stunning views and miles of off-road riding.
Our standard Fun Ride Terms and Conditions will apply.

Q and A
What is a guided ride ? Basically a fabulous group hack with optional jumps led by experienced riders who know the route.
What time do I need to arrive? All riders need to be on board by 11am so please arrive leaving yourself plenty of time to check in and saddle up (many of us travel our horses tacked up )
Can children come? Yes Children aged 14-17 are welcome on the ride unaccompanied as long as an appropriate adult remains available at the parking field during the ride ; Children 13 and under should be accompanied by an appropriate adult (over 18) on horse. The ride is not suitable for on foot lead rein.
Will the hounds be there? Hounds will not be at the guided ride.
Will there be refreshments and Barbeque for non-riders – Yes Barbeque and refreshments will be available to purchase during and after the guided ride.
How fast will it be ? It will be at a nice hacking pace. The field masters will aim to make good progress trotting and cantering when appropriate with plenty of walking in-between. The Field Masters will stop and ensure the groups keep together but you will need to make every effort to keep up. No-one will be left behind!
What should I wear ? You are welcome to wear whatever you normally ride in. Obviously, we ask that you wear an appropriate riding hat and recommend children also wear body protectors.
Are there any rules I should know about? We ask that you respect the following to help ensure a safe and enjoyable ride.
1. Please stay behind the Field Master.
2. Young horses be kept towards the rear of the field and should wear a green ribbon in their tail to let others know that you are on a young green horse.
3. If your horse has been known to kick or lash out please keep to the back and away from other riders and wear a red ribbon in the tail as a warning to others
4. Please say thank you to anyone opening or closing a gate
5. Form an orderly queue when jumping and do not overtake or cut in front of others on the approach.
